Artists and scientists at City University of Hong Kong have developed an extraordinary animated 3D experience that allows visitors to experience in virtual reality the magnificent Buddhist wall paintings inside the Mogao Grottos at Dunhuang located in northwest China. Spectacular interactive 3D animations and digital effects produced in a large 360-degree panoramic projection theatre dramatise for visitors figures and objects in these paintings, revealing their painterly beauty and underlying narratives.

Mr. Measure Hung and Ms. Beryl Yeung were invited to join the opening ceremony and press preview on 15 March 2013. It was a great exhibition because Cave 220 in Dunhuang is not open to visitors, and will remain closed like most of the caves in the vicinity to ensure their continuing preservation. Now we can enjoy the great experience through the 3D technology.
